Gigi Niu is a PhD candidate in the Development, Stem Cell, and Regenerative Medicine (DSR) program at the University of Southern California (USC). Under the mentorship of Dr. Aaron Nagiel, her research focuses on using human retinal organoid models to investigate synaptogenesis and uncover the human-specific mechanisms underlying congenital stationary night blindness (CSNB).

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Science from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oswego. Outside of the lab, she enjoys dancing, snowboarding, and spending time with her cats, Puff and Peadan.
